FREE pattern: Crochet Book Cover

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,

Assalamualaikum :)

Specifically, the pattern is for small tafsir quran cover. But it can be fit in any hardcover books ;)

I've created this simple pattern in 2013, at that time I was form 5. Most students from boarding school, even most of the muslims, own a small tafsir Quran. I see that some of the books are hardcover.

ha, yang macam ni selalunya.

It is about 14.5 cm tall, 10.5 cm width, 4 cm height.

Let's start :D

Materials:
1.5 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Any colours of yarns, I'm using Nona or Minlon brands

And this kind of button, butang katup

Abbreviation:
Chain = ch
Foundation double crochet = fnd dc
double crochet = dc
sl st = slip stitch

Row 1: ch 3 (this counted as 1 dc), 129 fnd dc (total: 130 dc)
Row 2: ch 3 (this counted as 1 dc), 129 dc in next 129 stitches (total 130 dc)
Row 3-20: Repeat row 2

cover finished.

To fold the cover :
Count 29 stitches from the most side. At 29th stitch, fold the cover. Combine the two parts using sc. It should be 29 sc.
Repeat the steps for three other parts.

The strap:
Row 1: ch 3 (this counted as 1 dc), 6 fnd dc (total 7 dc)
Row 2-14: Repeat row 1

The flower:
Row 1: (to make circle) ch 5, sl st at first chain.
Row 2: ch 2 (this counted as 1 hdc), (chain 3, hdc 1 x 4 times ) should have 5 hdc
Row 3: (to make petals)ch 1, [(1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc 1sc) x 5 times]

Finishing:
Sew any excessive yarns.
To combine strap to cover: count 4 rows, place the 4th row parallel to the edge of the cover. then sew it at the middle of the cover.
Combine the flower at the bottom of the strap.
Sew the buttons.

Finish :)

By the way, below is the tutorial to make foundation double crochet, if any don't know

I wish I can make video tutorial. Also, I am looking forward to innovate this simple book cover to many many kinds of patterns.
